PRODUCTS I USE
Varnishes
Below are a few products I recommend for varnishing your paintings. All of my original paintings come varnished and sealed, to protect the surface from moisture and UV light.
Oil & Acrylic Paintings: 2 layers Gamvar (Gloss) followed by 2-3 layers Gamvar (Satin)
Watercolor Paintings: 4-5 coats Krylon Spray Varnish (Gloss), followed by 3-4 coats of brush-on Golden Polymer Varnish w/ UVLS (Satin)
Mediums
My favorite paint mediums:
Walnut Alkyd Medium by M. Graham: This non-toxic medium increases the flow of oil paints and also cuts down on dry-time. Very low odor.
Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel Medium: This non-toxic medium increases the flow of oil paints and also cuts down on dry-time. Very low odor.
Golden Acrylic Matte Medium: This is a must-have in my studio. I use it for many things. It works as an adhesive for mounting watercolor paper to wooden panels, and also is great for sealing the tape edges when I mask various layers of my paintings.
Oil Paints
Currently my favorite brand of oil paints are Gamblin Oil Colors. I am a proud Affiliate of Blick Art Materials, from whom I purchase all of my supplies, including Gamblin products. Use the link below for some extra savings on your Blick purchase:
